Possible Causes
Lid not fully locked, Defective lid-closed microswitch, Misaligned lid hinge, Damaged lid lock mechanism
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Philips multicooker before inspecting the lid mechanism. Allow the unit to cool completely if recently used.
- Check lid closure: Open and close the lid firmly. Ensure the lid clicks into the locked position and the handle is fully down. Remove any food residue or rice grains around the rim or latch area.
- Inspect silicone ring and rim: Remove the inner lid (if removable) and silicone sealing ring. Clean the metal rim and plastic latch area. Food buildup can prevent the lid switch from engaging.
- Check lid hinge alignment: Gently move the lid up and down to see if it feels loose or misaligned. If the hinge is skewed, carefully realign it by tightening visible hinge screws (if accessible).
- Test with different lid pressure: Plug the unit back in, select a simple program (e.g., Steam), and gently press down on the lid while starting. If E1 disappears only when pressing, the lid switch or latch is likely worn.
- When to replace parts: If the error persists, the lid-closed microswitch or lid lock assembly may be faulty. These are internal electrical components and should be replaced by a qualified technician or Philips service center.
