Possible Causes
Residual pressure in the pot, Stuck float valve, Warped lid lock mechanism, Food residue around locking pin
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Never force the lid open. Forcing it can cause sudden release of hot steam and food.
- Check pressure indicators: Ensure the float valve has dropped fully. If not, there may still be pressure inside.
- Release remaining steam: Carefully move the steam release valve to venting using a long utensil. Wait until all steam stops.
- Gently tap float valve: Once cool, gently tap the float valve from the outside to free any stuck food particles.
- Clean lock area: After opening, clean around the lid lock pin and float valve thoroughly to prevent future sticking.
- Service lock mechanism: If the lid frequently jams, the lock assembly may be warped or damaged and should be replaced by a technician.
