Possible Causes

Thermal fuse or bimetal thermostat tripping due to overheating, Poor contact between inner pot and heating plate, Excessive food stuck to bottom causing localized overheating, Faulty temperature sensor calibration on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the multicooker and allow it to cool for at least 30 minutes. Do not bypass any safety devices.

  • Check inner pot seating: Ensure the original Polaris inner pot is used and that it sits flat on the heating plate. Remove any debris, burnt food, or warped foil that may prevent full contact.
  • Clean heating plate: Wipe the heating plate with a soft, slightly damp cloth (unit unplugged and cool). Remove burnt-on residue that can cause hot spots.
  • Inspect thermal fuse/thermostat: From the underside, locate the thermal fuse or bimetal thermostat attached to the heating plate assembly. Check for discoloration or signs of overheating. Use a multimeter to test continuity; an open thermal fuse indicates it has blown.
  • Replace blown thermal fuse: If the thermal fuse is open, replace it with the same temperature and current rating specified for Polaris multicookers. Crimp or solder connections using high-temperature sleeves; do not twist wires together bare.
  • Ventilation check: Ensure the cooker is used on a hard, flat surface with adequate clearance around the ventilation slots. Blocked vents can cause internal overheating.
  • Control board calibration: If E3 recurs with a new fuse and proper pot contact, the control board may be misreading temperature. Replacement of the main control board may be necessary.
