Display shows a lid-related message (e.g., “LID”, “LID OPEN”, or flashing lid icon) and the cooker will not start pressure mode.

Safety first: Ensure the cooker is not under pressure before manipulating the lid. Unplug the unit.

• 1. Verify lid orientation: Make sure the lid is aligned with the markings on the housing and turned fully to the locked position until it stops.
• 2. Clean lid lock area: Inspect the locking pin and slot for dried food or debris. Clean with a damp cloth and a soft brush. Dry thoroughly.
• 3. Check lid lock movement: Move the lid handle between open and lock positions and observe the lock pin. It should move freely in and out. If it sticks, apply a tiny amount of food-safe silicone lubricant to the moving metal/plastic interfaces (avoid rubber seals).
• 4. Test lid switch (advanced): Access the lid lock switch from inside the top housing or handle. With a multimeter, test the microswitch for continuity when the lid is locked. If it does not change state, replace the switch.
• 5. Replace lid lock assembly: If the actuator is broken or the switch is faulty, install a new lid lock assembly / lid position switch compatible with your PowerXL model.
• 6. Confirm operation: Reassemble and test by locking and unlocking the lid with the unit powered. The lid indicator should change state accordingly.
