Possible Causes
Food stuck to bottom of pot causing localized burning, Insufficient liquid for selected program, Blocked steam release or clogged anti-block shield, Faulty temperature regulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker and allow pressure to drop naturally if in pressure mode. Do not force the lid open.
- 1. Release pressure safely: Once safe, open the lid and inspect the contents. If food is heavily scorched on the bottom, discard and clean thoroughly.
- 2. Clean anti-block shield and steam path: Remove the anti-block shield (metal cap over the steam release port) and clean it, along with the steam release valve and float valve, to ensure steam can escape properly.
- 3. Adjust recipes: For thick dishes (chili, oatmeal), add more liquid and avoid using high sauté or long pressure times without stirring.
- 4. Inspect heating plate: Clean any residue from the heating plate and ensure the pot sits flat.
- 5. Sensor and control check (advanced): If OvHt occurs even with adequate liquid and clean components, test the bottom sensor and consider control board replacement if temperature regulation is erratic.
