Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Saturn multicooker from the mains before opening any covers. Never bypass safety switches while the unit is powered.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Verify lid closure: Open and close the lid firmly several times. Make sure the lid latch clicks into place and there is no food debris on the latch hook or strike plate.
- 2. Clean the latch area: With the unit unplugged, use a soft brush or toothpick to remove rice, grease, or residue from the lid latch and the slot on the body. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- 3. Inspect the lid hinge and alignment: Check that the lid is not twisted or loose at the hinge. Tighten visible hinge screws carefully if they are loose. A misaligned lid may not press the lid switch fully.
- 4. Check the lid switch movement: Locate the small plastic pin or tab on the lid that presses the lid microswitch on the body. Gently press it by hand (with power unplugged) and feel for a distinct click from the switch. If there is no click, the switch may be faulty or the tab may be broken.
- 5. Inspect wiring (advanced): If you are comfortable and the warranty has expired, remove the bottom cover (usually several Phillips screws) and trace the two-wire harness from the lid switch to the main control board. Look for broken insulation, burnt connectors, or loose plugs. Reseat any loose connectors firmly.
- 6. Test again: Reassemble the unit, plug it in, close the lid firmly, and try a simple program (e.g., "Rice" or "Steam"). If E1 persists, the lid switch or lid lock assembly likely needs replacement.
When to call a technician: If the lid hinge is bent, the plastic latch is cracked, or you are not comfortable opening the housing, contact a qualified appliance technician to replace the lid lock / lid sensor assembly.
