Possible Causes

Defective pressure sensor on lid or body, Blocked pressure sensor tube, Loose pressure sensor connector on control board, Damaged pressure sensor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the cooker is completely depressurized and unplugged before disassembly. Never attempt to open the lid while under pressure.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Check sealing ring and lid: Inspect the silicone sealing ring on the lid for cracks, deformation, or food buildup. Clean it and the lid groove thoroughly and reinstall it evenly.
  • 2. Clean pressure valve and sensor port: Remove the steam release valve and anti-block shield (if fitted). Clean any starch or food residue. On some Saturn models, a small channel leads to the pressure sensor; ensure it is not clogged using a soft brush or pipe cleaner.
  • 3. Verify valve position: Make sure the steam release valve is set to the correct "Sealing" position for pressure cooking.
  • 4. Internal sensor check (advanced): With the unit unplugged and lid inner cover removed, locate the pressure sensor (small disc or module connected by a tube or directly mounted). Check that its connector is firmly attached to the main PCB and that the tube (if present) is not kinked or cracked.
  • 5. Test with water: Add at least 2 cups of water, close the lid, set to a short pressure program, and observe. If steam escapes continuously from the valve and E5 appears, the sensor may not be reading correctly or pressure is not building due to a sealing issue.

When to replace: If cleaning and reseating connectors do not resolve E5, the pressure sensor module or its harness likely needs replacement. This should be done by a qualified technician to maintain safety certification.
