Possible Causes
Worn Start button on control panel, Damaged touch membrane, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and PCB, Faulty control panel PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the cooker before removing the control panel.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Confirm lock status: Some Saturn models have a child lock. Check the manual for the unlock key combination and try disabling the lock.
- 2. Test other buttons: See if other keys respond (change program, time, temperature). If only Start is unresponsive, the Start contact is likely worn.
- 3. Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front/top panel to access the keypad PCB. Ensure the flat ribbon cable is fully inserted into the main board connector.
- 4. Clean contacts: If the keypad uses mechanical switches, lightly clean around the Start button with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab. Do not flood the area.
- 5. Replace keypad panel: If the membrane or PCB is cracked or worn, replace the entire control panel assembly with a Saturn-compatible part.
Note: If no keys respond, the issue may be with the main control board rather than the keypad.
