C160 error, appliance refuses to start any program; often described as lid not detected

Safety first: Unplug the appliance before inspecting the lid mechanism. Do not force the lid closed.

• 1. Check lid closure: Ensure the lid is fully seated and rotated/locked according to the user manual. Remove any food residue around the rim that may prevent full closure.
• 2. Inspect locking arms: Look at the locking arms or clamps for cracks or deformation. If they do not move smoothly, clean and gently free them.
• 3. Listen for lock click: When plugging in and attempting to start, listen for the lid lock engaging. No click may indicate a failed lid lock assembly or microswitch.
• 4. Clean sensors: If your model uses optical or magnetic lid detection, gently clean the sensor area with a dry cloth.
• 5. If still not detected: The lid lock assembly or its wiring may need replacement. This requires opening the housing; contact a service center.
