Possible Causes

Open-circuit cavity NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Loose connector on main control board, Failed main control board input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the oven from the mains supply (unplug or switch off at the cooker isolator) before removing any panels. Allow the oven to cool completely.

  • Access the cavity sensor (NTC): On most Candy built-in ovens, the temperature sensor is a small metal probe inside the oven cavity at the rear or top. Remove the fixing screw and gently pull the sensor into the cavity to access the connector.
  • Check connections: Inspect the sensor plug and wiring for burns, corrosion, or loose fit. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test the sensor: Using a multimeter set to resistance, measure across the sensor terminals. A typical Candy NTC will read around 500–1100 Ω at room temperature (exact value varies by model). If the reading is infinite (open circuit) or far outside spec, the sensor is faulty.
  • Inspect wiring to the PCB: If the sensor tests OK, trace the harness back to the main control board behind the front panel. Look for pinched, cut, or burnt wires. Repair or replace the harness if damaged.
  • Check the control board input: If wiring and sensor are good, the temperature-sensing circuit on the main control board may be defective. Visual inspection may show burnt components, but confirmation usually requires a technician.

Do not bypass the sensor; this is a safety device. If you are not confident with electrical testing, contact a qualified technician.
