Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor (NTC), Stuck relay on control board, Cooling fan not running or restricted airflow, Door not sealing causing incorrect temperature readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.
- Allow full cool-down: Wait until the oven is completely cool, then restore power and see if the error clears. If it recurs quickly, proceed with checks.
- Check cooling fan: During operation, the internal cooling fan should run. If you never hear it, the fan motor, fan thermostat, or control board relay may be faulty. Inspect for blocked vents at the front and rear of the oven and clear any obstructions.
- Test oven sensor: With power off, remove the oven temperature sensor connector and measure resistance. At room temperature it should be ~1080–1100 Ω. Replace the sensor if readings are open, shorted, or significantly off.
- Inspect door gasket: Check the door seal for gaps, tears, or compression damage. A leaking door can cause uneven heating and over-temperature at the sensor. Replace the gasket if damaged.
- Control board evaluation: If the sensor and fan are good, the EOC may be misreading temperature or have a stuck relay. Replacement of the control board is typically required.
Warning: Do not bypass safety thermostats or operate the oven with panels removed. Overheating can cause fire or damage to cabinetry.
