Possible Causes
Open broil heating element, Burned or loose broil wiring, Failed broil relay on control board, Faulty selector or mode relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Shut off power at the breaker before inspecting the broil element or wiring.
- Visual inspection: Examine the upper broil element for cracks, breaks, or burn marks. Replace if damaged.
- Continuity test: Access the broil element terminals from the rear or by pulling the element forward. Disconnect wires and measure resistance (typically 10–30 Ω). Replace the element if open.
- Check wiring: Inspect wires from the broil element to the control board for burns or loose connections. Repair as needed.
- Control board: If the element and wiring are good, the broil relay or mode relay on the control board may have failed and the board will need replacement.
Warning: Do not attempt to repair a cracked element; always replace it.
