Possible Causes
Open grill element, burned wiring to grill element, failed grill relay on main PCB, faulty function selector switch (on knob‑type Etna ovens)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power and allow the oven to cool before accessing the top area.
- Visual inspection: Look at the grill element through the top of the cavity. Check for visible breaks, blisters, or burn marks.
- Resistance test: Access the rear of the oven and locate the grill element terminals. Disconnect and measure resistance; an open circuit means the element is faulty and must be replaced.
- Check wiring: Inspect the high‑temperature wires and connectors leading to the grill element. Replace any burned or loose connectors with high‑temp rated parts.
- Selector switch (if fitted): On mechanical knob models, test the grill contacts of the function selector switch for continuity when set to grill. Replace the selector switch if contacts are open.
- PCB relay: On fully electronic models, if the element and wiring are good, the grill relay on the main PCB may be defective. Replace the main PCB if the relay does not energize.
