Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Failed electronic oven control (EOC) temperature circuit, Stuck relay on control board, Wiring short between sensor and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Turn off power at the breaker immediately if the oven is overheating or will not shut off.
- Cool down: Allow the oven to cool completely before working on it.
- Check oven sensor resistance: Remove the rear panel or open the oven cavity to access the temperature sensor (usually a thin metal probe at the back wall). Disconnect its connector. Using a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature: most Frigidaire sensors should read ~1050–1100 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If reading is far off or open/shorted, replace the sensor.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the sensor to the EOC for pinched, burned, or shorted wires. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Control board check: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the EOC may have a stuck relay or failed temperature circuit. Replace the electronic oven control.
Do not continue using the oven if it overheats or will not shut off; this is a fire hazard.
