Possible Causes
Burned out convection fan motor, Seized convection fan shaft, Faulty relay on control board, Damaged wiring to convection motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before removing the oven back panel or interior fan cover.
- 1. Confirm symptom: Select a convection mode and listen for the fan. If silent and no air movement is felt, proceed.
- 2. Inspect from inside cavity: Remove racks and the rear interior panel (if removable) to access the convection fan blade. Check for food debris or warped panels rubbing on the blade.
- 3. Spin test: With power off, spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely. If stiff or seized, the motor bearings are likely failed and the convection motor assembly should be replaced.
- 4. Electrical test: Access the rear of the oven and locate the convection motor wiring. Disconnect and measure resistance across the motor. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- 5. Control and wiring: If the motor tests good, check for voltage at the motor connector when convection is selected (live test only if qualified). If no voltage is present, suspect a failed relay or triac on the main control board and replace the board.
