Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed lock latch, Misaligned door strike, Faulty lock switch or sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the lock mechanism. Do not force the door closed or open with tools; glass can shatter.
- 1. Inspect door strike: Check the metal hook on the oven frame for bending or misalignment. Gently straighten if necessary so it lines up with the lock mechanism.
- 2. Listen for lock motor: When starting self‑clean (before disconnecting power), listen for the lock motor running. A humming or no sound at all can indicate a failed motor or jam.
- 3. Access lock assembly: Remove the top panel or front control panel (depending on model) to reach the door lock motor and latch assembly.
- 4. Check for mechanical binding: Manually move the lock arm with power off. It should move smoothly. Clean any grease or debris and lightly lubricate pivot points with high‑temperature‑rated lubricant (sparingly).
- 5. Test lock motor and switches: Measure resistance of the lock motor coil and continuity of the lock position switches. Replace the door lock assembly if the motor is open or switches do not change state when actuated.
