Possible Causes
Open-circuit temperature sensor (NTC probe), Shorted temperature sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty connection on control board sensor terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power (unplug or switch off circuit breaker) before removing any panels. Allow the oven to cool completely.
- Access the temperature sensor: Open the oven door and locate the temperature sensor probe at the rear wall (usually top left or top center inside the cavity). It is a thin metal rod secured with 1–2 screws.
- Check for visible damage: Inspect the probe for burns, cracks, or broken insulation. If damaged, it must be replaced.
- Test the sensor with a multimeter: Remove the mounting screws, gently pull the sensor forward, and disconnect the plug. Measure resistance at room temperature. A typical Gorenje NTC sensor reads roughly 500–1100 Ω at 20–25°C (check service manual for exact spec). Infinite resistance indicates an open sensor; near 0 Ω indicates a short.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the control board (behind the control panel or top cover). Check for pinched, burned, or cut wires and reseat the connector on the control board.
- Replace if faulty: If resistance is out of range or intermittent when you gently flex the cable, replace the temperature sensor with a compatible Gorenje NTC oven sensor. Reassemble, restore power, and test.
- If F1 persists: With a known-good sensor installed, a persistent F1 may indicate a defective electronic control board (EPC/PCB). At this point, contact a qualified technician.
