Possible Causes

Open heating element (top or bottom), Burned wiring to element, Faulty power relay on control board, Tripped thermal cut-out (safety thermostat)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate the oven from the mains. Verify no voltage is present before touching internal components.

  • Check heating elements: Remove the back panel (or inner rear cover for some models) to access the top and bottom elements. Visually inspect for breaks, blisters, or burn marks. Test each element with a multimeter; typical resistance is 20–60 Ω depending on wattage. Infinite resistance means the element is open and must be replaced.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the wires from the elements to the control board and terminal block. Look for burned connectors or melted insulation. Repair or replace damaged wiring and terminals.
  • Check thermal cut-out: Locate the high-limit thermostat/thermal fuse (usually on the top of the oven cavity or rear panel). Test for continuity. If open, determine why it tripped (blocked ventilation, fan failure) and replace it with the correct Gorenje part.
  • Control board relay: If elements and wiring are good, the power relay on the control board may not be closing. You may hear it click without power output. This typically requires replacement of the electronic control board by a technician.
