Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor, Jammed latch mechanism, Faulty door lock switch, Broken wiring between lock and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off power at the breaker. Ensure the oven is completely cool before attempting to release the door.
- Try a power reset: Turn off power for 10 minutes, then restore. Sometimes the control will reset and unlock the door if the temperature has dropped sufficiently.
- Manual door release: On many Gorenje models, a manual release lever is accessible by removing the top panel or through a slot near the door latch. Consult the user manual. Gently move the lever to release the lock.
- Inspect latch and motor: With the top/front panel removed, inspect the door lock motor and latch assembly. Check for broken plastic parts, misalignment, or obstructions.
- Test lock switches: Use a multimeter to test the micro-switches on the lock assembly for proper open/closed operation when the latch moves. Replace the lock assembly if switches are faulty or the motor does not operate when powered.
- Check wiring: Inspect the harness from the lock to the control board for breaks or burned connectors.
- Replace door lock assembly: If mechanical or electrical failure is found, replace the complete Gorenje door lock/latch assembly. Reassemble and test a normal bake cycle before using pyrolytic cleaning again.
