Possible Causes
Grease buildup on elements, Food debris on cavity floor, Spilled oil on fan cover, Deteriorated insulation near hot spots
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If heavy smoke occurs, switch off the oven, open windows, and keep the door closed until smoke subsides. Do not leave the oven unattended.
- Inspect interior: Once cool, remove racks and trays. Check elements, fan cover, and cavity floor for burnt-on grease or food.
- Deep clean: Use a non-caustic oven cleaner suitable for enamel surfaces, or run a high-temperature cleaning cycle if available (but not pyrolytic unless specified). Avoid spraying directly on elements.
- Check insulation exposure: If you see exposed or charred insulation through holes or gaps, the cavity or back panel may be damaged. This requires professional assessment.
- Monitor next use: After cleaning, run the oven empty at 200–220°C for 20–30 minutes to burn off residues, then check for remaining smell.
