Possible Causes

Open safety thermostat (thermal cut-out), Blocked cooling vents, Failed cavity cooling fan, Faulty wiring to thermal cut-out, Defective main control temperature monitoring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off power and allow the oven to cool completely. Components near the top and rear can remain hot for a long time.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure the oven’s front and rear ventilation slots are not blocked by cabinetry, foil, or other obstructions. Adequate airflow is critical.
  • Inspect cooling fan: Remove the top or rear cover to access the cavity cooling fan (different from the convection fan). Spin it by hand and check for free movement. If seized or noisy, replace the fan.
  • Test thermal cut-out: Locate the thermal cut-out (usually a small round or rectangular thermostat mounted on the top or rear of the oven cavity). With power OFF, disconnect its wires and test for continuity. If open and non-resettable, replace it. Some models have a manual reset button—press it if present.
  • Check wiring: Inspect wiring between the thermal cut-out, cooling fan, and main control board for heat damage.
  • Control board: If all components test good but E6 persists, the main control board may be misreading temperature and should be evaluated or replaced by a technician.
