Possible Causes
Failed oven temperature sensor (RTD), Stuck or welded bake relay on control board, Poor airflow around oven causing heat buildup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. Allow the oven to cool completely before working inside.
- Check for obvious overheating: Look for signs of scorching around the door, control panel, or vent. Remove any foil or blocked vents that could trap heat.
- Test the oven temperature sensor: Remove the rear access panel or open the oven and locate the thin metal probe on the rear wall (oven sensor). Disconnect its harness. Using a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature: a typical Monogram sensor should read about 1080 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If it is far out of range or open/shorted, replace it.
- Inspect wiring: Check the sensor harness from the probe to the control board for pinched, burned, or broken wires. Repair or replace as needed.
- Control board check: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the bake relay on the electronic oven control board may be stuck closed, causing overheating. In that case, replace the control board.
- After repair: Run a 350°F bake and verify the oven cycles on and off and no F2 returns.
