Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor, Blocked or restricted cooling airflow, Faulty fan relay on control board, Open or shorted fan feedback sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Internal metal edges can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Listen and feel: When the oven was last used, did you hear the cooling fan running? If it never runs or runs loudly, suspect the fan motor.
- Access the fan: Remove the top or rear panel (depending on model) to access the cooling fan assembly. Check for obstructions, insulation, or wiring contacting the blades.
- Test the fan motor: With a multimeter, check for continuity across the fan motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If accessible and safe, you can also apply proper line voltage briefly to confirm operation (only if you are qualified).
- Check wiring and connectors: Inspect the harness from the control board to the fan for burns or loose connections. Repair as needed.
- Control board: If the fan motor and wiring are good but the fan never receives power, the fan relay on the electronic oven control board may be defective. Replace the board.
