Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, Stuck heating relay on control board, Faulty mechanical thermostat (on knob-controlled models), Miswired heating elements
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power. Overheating can damage internal components; allow full cool-down.
Steps to check:
- Sensor resistance: Test the NTC sensor at room temperature. A very low resistance suggests a short; replace the sensor.
- Control board relays: Inspect the main board for relays that appear welded or burnt. If an element remains powered when the oven is off, the relay is likely stuck closed.
- Mechanical thermostat: On knob-controlled Montpellier ovens, test the thermostat contacts for proper opening/closing at set temperatures. Replace if it does not open.
- Element wiring: Verify that elements are wired according to the wiring diagram and not permanently connected to live.
