Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, Failed electronic oven control (EOC) board, Moisture or contamination on keypad ribbon connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.
Steps to try:
- Power reset: Turn the range/oven breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then back ON. If F1 returns immediately, continue below.
- Inspect keypad ribbon: Remove the back panel behind the control. Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the electronic oven control (EOC). Disconnect and inspect for corrosion, burns, or moisture. Clean gently with isopropyl alcohol and reconnect firmly.
- Test keypad: With power still OFF, disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC, restore power briefly. If F1 does not appear with the keypad disconnected, the keypad/touch panel is shorted and must be replaced.
- Replace failed part: If F1 appears even with the keypad disconnected, replace the EOC (clock/control board). Transfer each wire one at a time from the old board to the new one to avoid miswiring.
When to stop: If you smell burning, see arcing, or are unsure about wiring, stop and contact a qualified technician.
