Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Stuck-closed bake relay on EOC, Damaged sensor wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the oven and switch off the breaker immediately to prevent overheating and fire risk. Allow the oven to cool completely.

Steps to diagnose:

  • Visual check: Inspect inside the oven for foil or pans covering the sensor probe (thin metal rod usually on rear wall). Remove anything touching it.
  • Test sensor resistance: With power OFF, pull the range forward and remove the rear panel. Disconnect the oven temperature sensor harness. Measure resistance across the sensor with a multimeter. At room temperature (~70°F / 21°C) it should be around 1050–1100 Ω. If it is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
  • Inspect harness: Check the sensor wires from the sensor to the EOC for burns, cuts, or loose connections. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Check control board: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the bake relay on the EOC may be stuck closed. Replace the EOC.

Warning: Do not continue using the oven if it overheats or shows F2 repeatedly; this is a fire hazard.
