Possible Causes
Shorted oven temperature sensor, Pinched sensor wiring touching chassis, Moisture in sensor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before working on the oven.
Steps:
- Inspect sensor wiring: Pull the oven slightly out from the wall. Remove the rear panel and locate the two-wire sensor harness. Look for spots where the insulation is crushed, melted, or touching metal. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor. Replace if shorted or out of spec.
- Dry connectors: If the oven was recently steam-cleaned or exposed to moisture, disconnect the sensor connector and dry it thoroughly. Lightly clean with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry before reconnecting.
If the sensor and wiring are good but F4 remains, the EOC may have an internal short and should be replaced.
