Possible Causes
Shorted touchpad membrane, Damaged keypad ribbon cable, Liquid spill into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the control panel.
Steps:
- Check for stuck keys: With power OFF, press each keypad button several times to feel for sticking. If any key feels stuck, the touchpad is likely failing.
- Inspect for spills: Remove the control panel cover. Look for signs of liquid intrusion or corrosion on the keypad and ribbon connector. If present, the keypad assembly should be replaced.
- Ribbon cable: Disconnect the keypad ribbon from the EOC, clean the contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol, and reconnect firmly.
- Isolate keypad vs. EOC: With keypad disconnected, restore power briefly. If F7 disappears, replace the keypad/touch panel. If F7 remains, replace the EOC.
Do not spray cleaners directly on the control panel; spray onto a cloth instead to prevent future keypad failures.
