Possible Causes

Failed door lock motor assembly, Faulty door lock switch, Broken or jammed lock linkage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. The door lock mechanism can move unexpectedly if power is applied.

Steps:

  • Check door alignment: Ensure the oven door closes fully and is not sagging. A misaligned door can prevent the lock from engaging.
  • Access lock assembly: Remove the back panel of the range to access the door lock motor and switches (usually at the top center). Inspect for broken plastic parts or bent linkage.
  • Test lock motor: With power OFF, disconnect the lock motor connector and measure coil resistance. An open reading indicates a failed motor.
  • Check lock switches: Use a multimeter to test continuity of the lock position switches while manually moving the lock arm. Replace the lock assembly if switches do not change state.

If the mechanical parts are intact and the motor and switches test good, the EOC may not be driving the lock circuit and should be replaced.
