Possible Causes
Failed broil heating element, Burned wire at broil element terminal, Open broil relay on EOC
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool.
Steps:
- Inspect broil element: Look at the top of the oven cavity for the broil element. Check for visible breaks, sagging, or burn marks.
- Continuity test: Access the rear of the range, remove the back panel, and disconnect the broil element wires. Measure resistance; infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
- Check terminals: Inspect the element terminals and wiring for heat damage. Replace any burnt connectors and repair wiring.
- Control check: If the element and wiring are good, the broil relay on the EOC may be defective and the EOC should be replaced.
