Possible Causes
Open‑circuit grill element, Burnt grill wiring or connectors, Faulty grill relay on main PCB, Overheated terminal block at grill element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing the rear of the oven.
- Inspect grill element: From inside the oven, visually inspect the grill element for blisters, cracks, or burn marks. Any visible damage usually indicates failure.
- Test resistance: Remove the rear panel to access the grill terminals. Disconnect the wires and measure resistance across the element; a typical reading is 20–40 Ω. An open circuit (OL) means the element is faulty.
- Check connectors: Inspect the spade terminals and wiring for signs of overheating or looseness. Replace any burnt connectors and trim back damaged wire, using high‑temperature terminals.
- Replace grill element: If the element is open or physically damaged, replace it with the correct Salter grill element for your model.
- Control board check: If the element tests good but E11 persists, the grill relay or control circuit on the main PCB may be faulty and the board may need replacement.
Warning: Ensure all wiring is correctly reconnected and secured away from hot surfaces before restoring power.
