Possible Causes
Failed electronic timer module, Stuck relay on timer board, Loss of low‑voltage supply to timer, Damaged timer control buttons
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel.
- Attempt a reset: Isolate the oven for 10–15 minutes, then restore power and try to set the clock according to the Salter user manual. Some models require the time to be set before heating is enabled.
- Check button operation: Press each timer button and feel for a positive click. If any button is stuck or does not respond, the timer module or fascia may need replacement.
- Inspect timer board: Remove the control panel and inspect the timer PCB for burnt components or cracked solder joints, especially around the relay and connectors.
- Replace timer module: If the timer display is dead or unresponsive despite correct supply, replace the timer/clock module with the correct Salter part.
Warning: Some ovens route main oven power through the timer relay; incorrect wiring can leave live parts exposed. Label all wires before removal.
