Possible Causes
Worn fan motor bearings, Obstructed fan blades, Shorted fan motor winding, Faulty fan speed control on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before accessing the fan.
- Access the convection fan: Remove the internal rear panel to expose the fan blades and the rear cover to access the motor.
- Clean and inspect: Remove any baked‑on grease or debris from the fan blades. Check that the blades are not bent and that they spin freely by hand.
- Listen for bearing noise: If the fan grinds or squeals when spun, the motor bearings are worn and the motor should be replaced.
- Electrical test: Measure resistance across the motor terminals; a very low or infinite reading indicates a fault. Replace the fan motor if readings are abnormal.
- Replace motor: Fit a new Salter convection fan motor and refit the fan blade securely, ensuring it does not foul the rear panel.
Warning: Do not lubricate sealed fan motor bearings; this is a sign the motor needs replacement, not oiling.
