Possible Causes
Failed capacitive touch panel, Cracked glass control fascia, Moisture ingress behind control panel, Damaged ribbon cable from keypad to PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the oven from mains power before removing the control panel.
- Dry out moisture: If the error appeared after cleaning or a spill, leave the oven powered off with the door open for 24 hours to allow moisture to evaporate. Do not use heat sources directly on the control panel.
- Inspect the fascia: Check the glass or plastic control fascia for cracks or impact damage. If cracked, the touch sensors may be compromised and the entire control panel assembly will need replacement.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the front control panel and inspect the flat ribbon cable for kinks, tears, or corrosion at the connectors. Reseat the cable and clean contacts with electrical contact cleaner.
- Test button response: After reassembly, restore power and test each button. If some zones remain dead or E6 persists, replace the touch control panel / keypad assembly as specified for your Salter model.
Warning: Glass edges can be sharp. Wear cut‑resistant gloves when handling the control fascia.
