Possible Causes
Failed cooling fan motor tachometer, Blocked or seized cooling fan, Faulty fan control circuit on main PCB, Damaged fan feedback wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power before accessing the fan area.
- Inspect the cooling fan: Remove the top or rear cover to access the cooling fan. Check for obstructions (insulation, wiring) preventing rotation. Clear any debris and ensure the blades spin freely.
- Check wiring: Some Salter fans have a third wire for speed feedback. Inspect this harness for damage or disconnection. Reseat connectors at both the fan and PCB.
- Test fan motor: With the fan disconnected, measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor that must be replaced.
- Replace fan assembly: If the fan is noisy, stiff, or electrically open, replace it with the correct Salter cooling fan motor. If the fan is good but E7 persists, the main control PCB fan circuit may be defective and require replacement.
Warning: Do not operate the oven with the cooling fan disabled; this can cause overheating and damage to surrounding cabinetry.
