Possible Causes

Failing low‑voltage transformer on control PCB, Dried‑out electrolytic capacitors, Loose neutral connection, Faulty mains filter board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power. Only qualified persons should test live voltages.

  • Check mains connections: Inspect the mains terminal block and neutral connections for looseness or heat damage. Tighten all screws and replace any burnt components.
  • Inspect control PCB: Look for bulging or leaking capacitors on the main control PCB, especially in the low‑voltage section. Any visibly damaged capacitors or scorched areas indicate the board should be replaced.
  • Check mains filter: Examine the mains filter / interference suppressor for cracks or burn marks. Replace if suspect.
  • Replace control PCB: If E8 persists after confirming good supply and connections, replace the main control PCB with the correct Salter spare part.

Warning: Do not continue using the oven if the display or lights are flickering; this can indicate an unsafe electrical condition.
