Possible Causes
Stuck or broken door switch, Misaligned door pressing on switch, Shorted lamp relay on control PCB, Door not closing fully due to hinge or seal issues
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power.
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Fix any hinge or seal issues first.
- Locate door switch: On many Salter ovens, a small plunger switch is located in the frame. Press it manually and listen for a click. If it does not click or feels loose, replace the switch.
- Test switch electrically: Disconnect the switch and test continuity while pressing and releasing. Replace if it does not change state correctly.
- Control board: If the switch is working but the light remains on, the lamp relay or driver on the control PCB may be stuck closed; replace the PCB.
Warning: A permanently lit lamp can overheat the lamp cover and surrounding area over long periods.
