Oven light works but fan and heating do not start when a function is selected.

Safety first: Isolate the oven from mains power.

• Check knob and shaft: Ensure the function knob is not cracked and that it turns the selector shaft. If the shaft spins freely without detents, the switch is likely broken.
• Inspect switch contacts: Remove the front panel to access the selector. Look for burn marks or melted plastic around the contacts.
• Test continuity: Using the wiring diagram, test continuity between the appropriate terminals in each selector position. Lack of continuity where expected indicates a faulty switch.
• Replace selector switch: Transfer wires one by one from the old switch to the new Salter selector to avoid miswiring. Secure the new switch and refit the knob.

Warning: Label all wires before removal; incorrect reconnection can cause shorts or overheating.
