Possible Causes

Stuck-closed oven thermostat contacts, Shorted temperature sensor causing misreading, Welded heating relay on control PCB, Bypassed or failed safety thermostat

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the oven immediately and isolate from mains power. Do not continue using an overheating oven.

Steps to check:

  • Thermostat test: On analogue models, test the thermostat contacts for continuity at the lowest setting. They should open when turned to OFF. If they remain closed, replace the thermostat.
  • Sensor reading: On electronic models, test the NTC sensor resistance. A shorted sensor can cause the board to think the oven is cooler than it is.
  • Relay inspection: Inspect the control board for a welded or burnt heating relay. If the relay contacts are stuck closed, the board must be replaced.

Warning: Do not bypass thermostats or safety devices; this is a fire and safety hazard.
