Oven stops heating shortly after start, error F02 appears, fan may continue to run.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the oven at the circuit breaker and allow it to cool completely (at least 30–60 minutes) before inspection.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check ventilation: Ensure the built-in oven has correct ventilation gaps as per V-ZUG installation instructions. Remove any items blocking the front or rear ventilation slots.
- Inspect cooling fan operation: Turn power back on and start a heating program. Listen for the cooling fan at the top of the oven. If it does not run or is very weak, the cooling fan motor or its capacitor may be defective and should be replaced.
- Resettable thermal cut-out: Some V-ZUG models have a manual-reset thermal limiter on the top of the oven cavity. With power off and top cover removed, locate the small round thermostat with a reset button. Press gently to reset. If it trips repeatedly, investigate fan and airflow issues.
- Non-resettable thermal fuse: If the thermal fuse is open (check continuity with a multimeter), it must be replaced with the exact V-ZUG specified part. Do not bypass or short the fuse.
- Clean filters and surroundings: Remove grease and dust from ventilation areas and ensure no insulation is obstructing airflow inside the cabinet.
When to call a technician: If F02 returns after ensuring proper ventilation and fan operation, have an authorized technician test the thermal protection circuit and replace the thermal limiter or cooling fan.
