Possible Causes

Open or shorted upper oven temperature sensor (RTD), Damaged sensor wiring harness, Loose sensor connector at control board, Failed electronic oven control (EOC) sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the oven off at the control panel, then switch OFF the circuit breaker or remove the fuse supplying power to the oven. Confirm the oven is completely cool before working inside.

Steps to check the temperature sensor:

  • Pull the oven partially out of the cabinet if needed to access the rear or remove the interior back panel (depending on model). Consult the Wolf installation/use manual for access points.
  • Locate the upper oven temperature sensor (RTD probe) protruding into the oven cavity, usually at the upper rear wall.
  • Remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor tip into the cavity to expose the wiring connector.
  • Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter at room temperature. A typical Wolf RTD should read around 1050–1100 Ω at 70°F (21°C). If it reads open (OL) or very low resistance, the sensor is faulty.
  • Inspect the sensor wiring harness for pinched, burned, or broken insulation, especially where it passes through the oven liner.
  • Reseat the connector at both the sensor and the control board, ensuring the pins are clean and fully engaged.

If readings are out of range or wiring is damaged:

  • Replace the upper oven temperature sensor with a Wolf-compatible part. Route the new harness away from hot surfaces and sharp edges.
  • Restore power and test a bake cycle. If E01 persists with a known-good sensor and wiring, the electronic oven control (EOC) may need replacement, which is typically a technician-level repair.
