Possible Causes

Stuck-closed bake relay on control board, Shorted temperature sensor, Poor airflow around oven causing overheating, Failed high-limit thermostat or thermal cutoff not opening

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely.

Basic checks:

  • Confirm that the oven vents are not blocked by cabinetry trim, foil, or pans. Wolf ovens require proper airflow around the unit.
  • Inspect the temperature sensor for physical damage or shorted wiring. Measure resistance at room temperature; a very low resistance (near 0 Ω) indicates a shorted sensor.
  • Locate the high-limit thermostat / thermal cutoff (often mounted on the top of the oven cavity or rear). Check for continuity; if it is open, it may have tripped due to overheating.

Corrective actions:

  • If the sensor is shorted or out of spec, replace the oven temperature sensor.
  • If the high-limit thermostat is open and non-resettable, replace it with the correct Wolf part and investigate causes of overheating (blocked vents, failed cooling fan).
  • If the oven continues to overheat or E03 returns, the control board bake relay may be stuck closed and the board should be replaced by a technician.
