Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between UI and control board, Moisture intrusion behind control panel, Failed touch panel (glass UI), Faulty main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- Remove the trim and screws securing the control panel / touch glass according to the Wolf service or installation guide.
- Carefully tilt the panel forward to access the ribbon cable and connectors between the UI and the main control board.
- Inspect for signs of moisture, corrosion, or burnt spots on the connectors and board.
- Disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable, ensuring it is fully seated and locked in place.
- If there is evidence of liquid damage, allow the panel area to dry completely. Do not use the oven until all moisture is gone.
If the error persists:
- Replace the user interface / touch panel assembly if buttons or touch zones are non-responsive or intermittent.
- If a new UI does not resolve E04, the main control board is likely at fault and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
