Possible Causes
Shorted probe jack contacts, Moisture or grease bridging contacts, Shorted probe cable, Control board input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before cleaning or disassembly.
Steps:
- Remove any meat probe from the jack.
- Clean the jack thoroughly with a dry cotton swab; do not use excessive liquid cleaners.
- Allow the oven to dry completely if steam or spills recently entered the jack.
- Restore power and check if the oven still indicates a probe is connected.
If the issue persists:
- Inspect the probe jack wiring for shorts or pinched insulation.
- Replace the probe receptacle if internal contacts are shorted.
- If a new jack does not resolve E31, the control board may be falsely detecting a probe and should be replaced.
