Possible Causes
Low pellet level in hopper, Wet or poor-quality pellets, Excessive ash buildup in fire pot, Fan not providing enough airflow to sustain combustion
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the grill off, unplug it, and allow it to cool fully before cleaning the fire pot.
- Check pellet supply and quality: Open the hopper and verify there are enough pellets. Inspect pellets for swelling, crumbling, or a damp feel. Discard any wet or degraded pellets and refill with fresh, dry hardwood pellets.
- Clean the fire pot: Remove grates and heat diffuser. Vacuum ash and unburned pellets from the fire pot and surrounding area. Ensure the air holes in the fire pot are not blocked.
- Inspect combustion fan: Access the fan (usually near the control board or under the hopper). Spin the fan blades by hand to ensure they move freely. Check for grease or debris buildup and clean carefully.
- Verify startup procedure: When restarting, follow the manufacturer’s startup sequence. Avoid frequently opening the lid during ignition, as this can disrupt airflow and cause flame-out.
- If ERR5 repeats: Confirm that the fan runs during operation (you should hear it and feel airflow in the fire pot). If the fan is not running or is weak, replace the combustion fan assembly.
