Possible Causes
Failed main control board, Loose display/control harness, Power surge damage, Moisture intrusion into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before removing the control panel or accessing internal electronics.
- Inspect control panel area: Check for signs of water entry around the display and buttons. Dry any visible moisture and ensure the grill is stored under cover when not in use.
- Check wiring harness: Remove the control panel mounting screws and gently pull the panel forward. Inspect the ribbon cable or harness between the display and main control board. Reseat all connectors firmly.
- Power reset: With the grill unplugged, leave it disconnected for at least 5 minutes to allow the control board to fully discharge. Plug it back in and see if ERR7 clears.
- Inspect for burn marks: Look at the control board for obvious burn spots, swollen components, or a burnt smell. If present, the board must be replaced.
- Replace control board if needed: Label and disconnect all harnesses, remove mounting screws, and install a new Char‑Broil pellet grill control board. Reconnect harnesses exactly as originally installed and reassemble the panel.
