Possible Causes

Unplugged temperature probe connector, Broken sensor wire, Corroded sensor terminals, Incorrect replacement probe installed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the grill before accessing the control panel or sensor wiring.

  • Check internal probe connection: Remove the control panel access cover and locate the temperature probe connector on the control board. Ensure it is fully seated.
  • Inspect cable: Follow the sensor cable from the cook chamber into the body of the grill. Look for cuts, pinch points, or melted insulation.
  • Verify correct part: If the probe was recently replaced, confirm that the installed part is the correct Char‑Broil pellet grill temperature sensor model.
  • Replace damaged probe: If the cable or probe is damaged, remove the mounting screws inside the cook chamber and install a new probe, routing the cable along the original path.
  • Test after replacement: Plug in the grill and verify that the display now shows an ambient temperature and that the SENS error is cleared.
