Possible Causes
Failed auger motor, Disconnected auger harness, Seized auger shaft causing motor overload, Burned auger driver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill and let it cool before working near the auger or firepot.
- Check harness: Access the hopper base and locate the auger motor. Confirm the wiring connector is fully seated and not damaged.
- Test for jam: With power OFF, attempt to rotate the auger shaft by hand (from the firepot side if accessible). If it will not move, remove the auger and clear any jammed pellets or foreign objects.
- Bench test motor: Remove the auger motor from the grill and test it with an appropriate power source (matching its rated voltage). If it does not spin freely under power, replace the auger motor.
- Check control output: With the motor disconnected, start the grill and measure voltage at the auger output from the control board during a feed cycle. If no voltage is present and wiring is intact, the auger driver on the board is likely failed and the board must be replaced.
