Possible Causes
Defective lid position switch, Misaligned lid magnet or sensor, Broken switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the grill before accessing any switches or wiring.
- Locate lid switch: On some Gourmet Grillson models, a magnetic reed switch or mechanical switch is mounted near the lid hinge or front lip.
- Check alignment: Ensure the magnet (on the lid) lines up with the sensor when the lid is closed. Adjust the magnet or sensor bracket if necessary.
- Test switch: Disconnect the switch from the harness and test continuity with a multimeter while opening and closing the lid. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the switch wires back to the control board, checking for cuts or loose connectors. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
- Bypass for test only: If qualified and only for brief testing, you may temporarily jumper the switch connector to simulate a closed lid. If ERR15 clears, the switch or its alignment is the issue. Restore proper safety function after diagnosis.
