Display shows ERR16; grill reports hopper lid open and pauses auger feed (on models with hopper safety).

Safety first: Unplug the grill before working around the hopper switch.

• Inspect switch: Locate the hopper lid switch under or beside the hopper rim. Check that the actuator moves freely when the lid is opened and closed.
• Check magnet alignment: If a magnetic sensor is used, ensure the magnet on the lid aligns directly over the sensor when closed. Adjust as needed.
• Test continuity: Disconnect the switch and test with a multimeter while operating the lid. Replace the switch if it does not open and close electrically.
• Repair wiring: Inspect the harness from the switch to the control board for damage. Repair splices with heat-shrink connectors rated for outdoor use.
